RE/MAX Agents Embrace Change As Seasons Change

These times, they are a-changing.

Change is inevitable.

And change is all around you.

The only thing you can count on is Change.

Nothing stays the same.

Whether you realize it or not,

YOU have witnessed this yourself.

Food for thought—

What was important to you 10 years ago is no longer important to you today.

Why?

Because events in your life have changed.

Lifestyles constantly change around you.

Perhaps, your circle of friends has changed.

Or, most importantly, perhaps YOU have changed.

It’s the Circle of Life.

Change is a very scary thought.

You can resist change because you fear you will not be able to adapt to the new ways. Change can cause a significant adjustment to your daily routine.

And change can be deeply emotional.

Change can threaten your level of safety and security.

Hence, change is difficult – or is it?

Progress is impossible without change.

Those who cannot adjust to change, are not capable of changing.

They cannot progress in life.

In order to accept change, you can not be afraid of it.

You have to Embrace the Unknown.

Can you be comfortable with the unknown? You won’t always know the outcome of certain things. But, being able to find comfort in this state of uncertainty,  is necessary to accept change.

Right now, we are experiencing a multitude of changes in our lives.

But, we are in the 21st year of the 21st Century.

It is inevitable that some things were due to change regardless of COVID-19.

Any adjustment in society alone would certainly require modification in our lifestyle.

Therefore, a new age has begun.

Change is reshaping our lives every day.

If you don’t accept this fact, you will be left behind.

Savvy people know this. Savvy people embrace change.

The change affects all aspects of business, as well.

Let’s analyze how some changes have affected the real estate industry.

Culture is Changing Real Estate

The image of the real estate agent has evolved over the years.  It has slowly taken on a new persona, in a very subtle way.

Remember back in the day, when all real estate agents wore business suits?  That attire emitted an aura of confidence, respect,  professionalism, and prominence. Buyers expected it. Sellers embraced it. It was the norm.

Now that has all changed.  Today, business suits are not always required or necessary.

Today’s agents, many times, choose embroidered Company Logo business attire, or a business casual wardrobe. This change has become a new dress code trend in today’s society.

It too instills confidence and respect. It expresses professionalism and prominence, as well.  A business casual wardrobe lends an air of comfort and relaxation. Agents are perceived as warm and friendly in a respectful way.

This is simply a small subtle change in the industry.

It reflects a “Sign of the Times”.

It is graciously accepted in today’s laidback business world.

In this case, the transition was easy and very well accepted.

Technology is Changing Real Estate

Gone are the days when the real estate agent relied solely on print media to advertise their listings. An Open House was considered the most effective way to attract buyers and get potential leads.

There was a time when realtors served as gatekeepers of the MLS listings. Potential buyers needed to contact a realtor in order to obtain any info on a home.

The introduction of the internet changed all that.

Did you know?

1971: Ray Tomlinson, a computer engineer working for Bolt, Beranek, and Newman in Cambridge, Massachusetts, developed a system for sending messages between computers that used the @ symbol to identify addresses. Tomlinson’s system gained popularity by linking up users on Arpanet, the US department of a defense system that became the basis for the internet.

1996: Microsoft released Internet Mail and News 1.0, a feature of its third release of Internet Explorer. This was later renamed Outlook.

1997: About 10 million users worldwide had free webmail accounts.

1998: Microsoft bought Hotmail for $400m (£283m).

2001: Email celebrated its 30th anniversary with virtually every business in the developed world signing on.

This is when the world of technological communication took flight.

In today’s market, it would be career suicide not to fully utilize the internet and various forms of technology. Especially in the real estate industry. But as you use technology don’t forget about the people who will wan to actually meet you.

Tech Savy Real Estate Agents

Today a tech-savvy real estate agent is in high demand. Millennials and Gen-X’ers are the primary marketing target. They are changing the way the real estate industry currently works.

The days of repeated phone calls and face-to-face meetings are few and far between. They are almost non-existent. Though many of our RE/MAX agents like to visit with clients and see their homes in person before listing them.

The development of the smartphone has transformed the lines of communication. It is most often done through more non-conventional means. Conversing with clients is now done via text and social media, as well as email.

If you are an agent who wants to be ahead of the competition, then being tech-savvy is a huge plus!

Social Media is Changing Real Estate

Today’s market is based entirely on mobile-friendly resources.  You need to have information for your client at your fingertips at all times!!  Furthermore, you’ll need to be organized and as paperless as possible.

Having software, apps like First, and tools at your disposal makes it more manageable to keep in contact with your clients. You can create virtual tour videos, YouTube videos, or drone videos.

As a realtor, it can help you to better present and upgrade your listings to your client.

Social Media Makes You Productive

A Well informed Realtor’s Website is A Must Have Today!

A tech-savvy realtor knows how vital it is to have home page optimization, meta tags, and other online marketing and branding strategies in order to garner buyers and sellers.

There is definitely a shift in the way buyers and sellers shop for real estate.  This is due to the many changes made on the internet every day.

In today’s market,  44% of all real estate searches start online before a realtor is consulted.  This is according to the National Association of Realtors.

Millennials of today, don’t really need realtors to help them find the properties they are interested in. They can do that themselves through the internet.

But what they do need is someone who can interpret the information for them. This is why a tech-savvy individual will be the most beneficial.
